Just a little about myself. I was born and raised in Beaumont, Texas. I graduated from French High School in 1968. After graduating I went to work for my Grandfather, Jimmie Himmel. He owned a Datsun dealership in Beaumont. I worked as a mechanic, working on Datsun and other cars that were traded in. I later became the service manager. I was his service manager until he sold the business. I then went to work in 1975 at Carburetor and Electrical Repair. I stayed there until Mike Yancey and I opened, Select Cars and Service, located on Calder and Third St. in 1977. We sold used cars and had a repair shop. We worked on all make and models of cars and trucks, specializing in carburetors, tune-ups, electrical and air conditioning repairs. We purchased Beaumont Dealers Auto Auction in 1985. I became sole owner of the auction and sold it in May 2007. I have maintained for 40 years a passion for classic, muscle, street rods and drag cars. I am now retired but wanted some small business that I could run out of my shop. I now have opened Hot Rod Electric and Air. I am excited about this new venture in my life and would like to help you in any of your air conditioning, heating, electrical and carburetor needs.
I started drag racing at Golden Triangle Drag Strip in the late sixties. I got involved in drag racing again in 1989.
I bought a 1966 Nova and raced it until my son, Andy, started driving it. I purchased a 1963 Corvette and I am still racing it. We like to race at Houston Raceway Park in Baytown and Evadale Race Track in Evadale.
My wife, Paula and I have been married since 1970. She has always worked in our business' and will be helping me in this new venture. We have two children, Kasie and Andy and one granddaughter, Kate.
